Ian Robb says: "In the spring of 2015, with a federal election looming in Canada, my Finest Kind bandmate Shelley Posen emailed me an idea and some lyrics for a song about Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and invited me to co-write the song with him. The result of this collaboration and subsequent recording is linked here. Several good and talented people donated their time, energy and expertise to this project, and thanks and kudos should go to them. We believe that Stephen Harper and the culture of selfishness, secrecy, deceit, science denial, international military posturing, lack of compassion and small minded government that he has brought to this country HAVE TO GO. Ironically, when it comes to looking after the physical and mental health and welfare of our veterans, the Harper government has a dismal record. We hope you will download and share this song freely, and sing it wherever it will do the most good."

My friends, in this election season
Tories are the voice of reason
Budget cutting we hold dear
But friends, you never have to fear—

There’s always money for a war
There’s always money for a war
I am Stephen – hear me roar
From sea to sea and shore to shore
I can shoot; now watch me score
There’s always money for a war.

We've cut the census; waste of dough
Who gives a damn? Who needs to know?
Science—why are we investing?
Let the Yanks do all our testing
Infrastructure costs the earth
We’ll never get our money’s worth
You bogus refugees beware
No more gold-plated Medicare. (But…)

There’s always money for a war
There’s always money for a war
I am Stephen – hear me roar
From sea to sea and shore to shore
I can shoot; now watch me score
There’s always money for a war.

Climate change is just a craze
Prevention’s costly anyways
Safer railways? Too expensive
Spending makes us apprehensive
No more cash for Canada Post
Home delivery—soon be toast
Put CBC up on the shelf
For culture must support itself. (But…)

There’s always money for a war
There’s always money for a war
I am Stephen – hear me roar
From sea to sea and shore to shore
I can shoot; now watch me score
There’s always money for a war.

So vote for Stephen, and be sure
You'll pay less tax—unless you're poor
Perhaps you'll have to do without
But with us in power, have no doubt— (That…)

There’s always money for a war
There’s always money for a war
I am Stephen – hear me roar
From sea to sea and shore to shore
I can shoot; now watch me score

Diplomacy is such a bore
Peacekeepers? Us? Ha! Not anymore!
There’s always money for a war
